Christmas 2009....

What a Christmas we had this year! Where do I even start!?!?! :)

Lets just start out by saying this year was a Christmas I will never ever forget :) We headed to mom's on Christmas Eve early in the morning to make sure could make it back due to the bad weather hitting there around 10am. We made it but the roads were not good! The weather kept getting worse so we did not go to church and canceled Christmas with all my family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) as no one wanted to drive so we had a nice dinner and hung out. The lights kept going out but would come back on.

Christmas Day we got up and ate a wonderful breakfast made by mom and then opened gifts. It was still snowing and yet the guys went hunting. The day was so nice but then the lights went out about 5pm on Christmas Day!

The lights were out all NIGHT!!! We bunkered in the family room as mom has a brand new wood insert fire place! We played games and watched a movie on mom's computer ;) Thank goodness for battery life ;) We slept in freezing bedrooms and the bathroom situation was interesting to say the least............. we woke up Saturday morning and still NO ELECTRICITY....so we had had it and we all packed our bags (in record time i would say) and headed to Des Moines in hopes for a toilet, shower and to brush our teeth :) We made it no problems! The interestates were wet but thats it.

Mom stayed with us last night and Jason stayed to make sure the pipes didn't freeze in teh house and try and save all the frigerator food (he had a friend that borrowed him a generator for the major stuff).

Mom just left about 15 minutes ago to head home as Jason called to report she had electricity.....

OMG! Can you say this was a very interesting Christmas ;) We had a wonderful time..we learned alot about each other....and i don't care if ever play trivia pursuit again! Its amazing how much we take this for granted!!!

I hope everyone had a Great Christmas :) We are looking forward to having Jonny's family this weekend at our house!
